Trachemys scripta scripta

Today, we went on a field trip to check turtle traps. When we checked the traps, we had two Yellowbelly Sliders (Trachemys scripta scripta). They both had yellow blotches behind the eye and vertical stripes on their "pants". We collected information on size, age and gender for these turtles in order to mark them. We used a marking guide to mark the turtles. We used a file to make notches in certain scutes and we recorded the markings with our other information. After marking the turtles, we set them free. This is a short video of the turtle "running" back to the water.
