Spadefoot mating

On a recent trip into the field at our local Meeman Biological Station we came across a large group of Spadefoots in the act of mating. The Spadefoot toads aka Scaphiophus holbrookii were found in a shallow water area that flooded following the spring rains. The area was full of Spadefoot toads everywhere you looked throughout the flooded area. We got some great pictures and it was a wonderful experience to see this rare sight in person.
