Marbled Salamander

I was messing around with leaves on the ground and saw something spotted and slimy!! It turned out to be a marbled salamander (Ambystoma opacum)!! I'm usually scared of touching anything but I didn't want this little guy to get away so i grabed for it and managed to hold it! This species of mole salamanders have white or silvery crossbars and are black on their lower sides and bellies. Males have white markings and females have gray markings. They usually live in habitats where there is moist sand or dry hillsides! (Patrice Rookard, SC)
