Our mascot the American Alligator

After much consideration, I believe our class mascot should be the American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis). The presence of this reptile reminds the class of an ancient past. A past filled with large reptiles and a much newer planet Earth. Because of being a top predator the American alligator commands any water way, in which it calls home. Its command of the water is sometimes unnoticed, as the alligator swims along as if a floating log.  This is how every student in our class should handle their education. Students should take command of any subject which they might be engaged. The American alligator clearly is the greatest of all modern day herps, and I believe are class should be represented by the best.

And we've been fortunate to see several gators this semester!
