Class Mascot: Scaphiopus holbrookii

I would like to nominate the Eastern Spadefoot (Scaphiopus holbrookii) as class mascot. Not only because it looks so cute with its huge eyes, but also because we brought him back from the brink of death. He represents the resiliency of our class! I believe he was pretty dehydrated from the stay he had in one of the traps that was laid out at Francis Marion. With some quick thinking from our professor Dr. Welch and students who brought their water bottles with them we were able to bring him back to full health! He was released and able to burrow down into a comfortable little hole made for him. S. holbrookii is the amphibian you want to represent your class!
