Class Mascot Nomination: Anolis carolinensis (green anole)

I believe that the green anole (Anolis carolinensis) should be the class mascot, therefore I am nominating it! I think it should be the class mascot because it is so common in SC, and we run into them everywhere it seems. We caught, saw, and interacted with so many anoles during our field trips! I also think they are so adorable, and that their bright green color is cool. I love how friendly they are! Every time we would hold one, it would just get settled into our hands or perch on our shoulder without even trying to escape. Not only that, but also, they are so friendly and harmless and don't bite! Although they are quite common, they are very interesting. We learned a lot about their breathing mechanisms, especially when they run. They also helped us learn about tail autotomy in lizards, which is a common tactic they use to escape predators. I think the green anole should be the class mascot because it has helped us learn so much in class by being a topic of discussion in lecture, and an actual living example in lab!
