Class Mascot Nomination: Anolis Carolinensis

I believe our class mascot should be Anolis carolinensis, more commonly known as the Carolina  green anole. This reptile is fast, it's mobile, and it's just so darn cute. We have all had the chance to interact with one whether it be chasing one, capturing one, holding one, or letting one run up and down our arms. In my opinion, they are the best herp we have gotten to interact with this semester. Just think of what we have learned from them: patterns of locomotion, breathing, color change, endothermy, mating systems, sexual dimorphisms, you name it! The anole is the only way to go.

And they're tenacious when they bite!

Gotta love the Anolis carolinesis. That one seemed to share a special bond with you as it really did not want to go back into the wild. The fact that they can change their skin color under stress is utterly fascinating. Also their dewlaps are so cool. It really makes you wonder how they evolved such interesting traits.
