Extra Post: Turtle and Tortoise Society of Charleston

A few weekends ago, I was working at the Charleston county Earth Day fair and saw something rather interesting. The different booths were all about have to go green and protect the planet, but one had caught my eye about a group of herp species. The Charleston Turtle and Tortoise Society is a local group dedicated to the protection and education of turtle species here in South Carolina. The man running the booth spoke about basic turtle anatomy and common injuries that can befall a turtle. He show the crowd some of his patients, that he brought, and told us what happen to them and what the society had done to help. I got the chance to ask him some question about the work he dose and he told me that the society focus on both the medical and conservation side of turtle care. He also said that this was one of few groups in South Carolina that specializes on just turtles. Below is a link to the Soceity’s website where you can learn more information about what they do.
