I Nominate The Common Leopard Gecko!

The Common leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius) has to be one of the CUTEST herps around! A perfect match for a class that is so enthusiastic about herps should be represented by a smiling squamate!

Even though these Geckos do not occur here in Charleston naturally (native to South-Asian AfghanistanPakistan, north-west India, and some parts of Iran), they have become a staple in the pet trade as novice beginner pets for young or old herp lovers. It's hard to find a reptile breeder that wouldn't recommend one of these cute little buggers! not only are their colorings spectacular to look at, these docile reptiles won't show any aggression and will warm up to you rather quickly. One thing to look out for however is their ability to voluntarily detach their tails in case of an emergency. they do this to use the flailing tail as a distraction to escape predators!
