Yay its alligators!! We saw these on one of ur feild trips mosty basking in the sun. These are American Alligators (Alligator mississippiensis). They have a broadly rounded snout and the 4th lower jaw tooth protrudes upward near the snout. Their general color is black but may have light markings growing into adulthood. If you come across a nests of these species procede with caution because a they have strong parental care and a female guardian may be nearby! (Patrice Rookard, SC)
