Our Turtle Haul!
For our second field trip, we trapped turtles from a small residential pond ... and we caught nearly enough turtles to go around! (posted by Allison Welch)

It was pretty cold for a field trip.....We caught quite a few of snapping turtles (both male and female)
ReplyDeleteAlso found mud turtles. One such species name Eastern mud turtle; K. subrubrum. Characteristics: large plastron with rounded shell.
ReplyDeleteTurtles sexes were determined by body size and length of claws on the forearms. Males typically were smaller than females but with longer claws.
